  • Mother of missing teen says daughter is “coming home”

    DENT COUNTY, MO (KPLR) – The mother of a missing Dent County girl said her daughter is “coming home.” An Amber Alert was issued early Wednesday morning for 13-year-old Trinity Lewis, who was abducted around midnight from Salem, Missouri. Salem is about 27 miles south of Interstate 44 and Saint James.   • Alabama wins national title, beating Clemson 45-40

    (CNN) — No. 2 Alabama wins its fourth college football national title in seven seasons, defeating No. 1 Clemson 45-40 in the College Football Playoff on Monday at Glendale, Arizona. It is the 14th NCAA national title for the Crimson Tide, which finishes the season 14-1.

  • Singer David Bowie dies at age 69

    (CNN) — David Bowie, whose ground-breaking sound and chameleon-like ability to reinvent himself made him a pop music fixture for more than four decades, has died. He had just turned 69 last week.   • AB InBev works out takeover of SABMiller

    BRUSSELS (KPLR) – AB InBev has agreed in principle to a takeover deal with SABMiller at 44 pounds ($67.63) a share to create the world’s biggest brewery. AB InBev increased its buyout offer overnight, and the boards of both companies “reached agreement in principle on the key terms of a possible recommended offer.”

  • Cardinals win 5-3 to sweep the Diamondbacks

    PHOENIX (KPLR) – The Cardinals  completed a 4-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday night, winning 5-3.  It’s the Cardinals’ 5th straight win.  They finish the season matchup against Arizona at 7-0.     PHOENIX (KPLR) – The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-1 Tuesday night. Tommy Pham had 3 hits and scored 3 times. Peter Bourjos got his first career pinch-hit home run. Jaime Garcia (6-4) allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 6 strikeouts.  The Cardinals are the first team in the majors to win 80 games this season.

    PHOENIX (KPLR) – The Cardinals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-3 Monday night. Lance Lynn (10-8) allowed just 2 runs on 9 hits, helped by four double plays turned by the Cardinals defense.  Yadier Molina’s two-run single in the seventh inning added to the victory.  Matt Carpenter also hit a solo home run.

    ST. LOUIS (KPLR) — The Minnesota Wild beat the St. Louis Blues, 4-2 in game one of their playoff series Thursday night at Scottrade Center. The Wild scored early in the first period, and again in the second period.   • Missouri executes convicted killer Walter Storey

    ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – The state of Missouri has executed convicted killer Walter Storey for the murder of his neighbor in St. Charles. Storey was put to death early Wednesday for killing 36-year-old special education teacher Jill Frey in February 1990. It was the first execution in Missouri this year, after a state-record 10 executions in 2014.
