  • Fire destroys vacant home Cahokia

    CAHOKIA, IL (KPLR) – Metro East firefighters had their hands full when a vacant house in Cahokia caught fire Wednesday morning.  Around 1 a.m., a home on Doris Avenue at Rome Street was destroyed. Extra crews were needed to keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes. No one was injured.

  • Body found near Riverview Drive and Spring Garden

    (KPLR) – A man was shot and killed late Monday night in north St. Louis.  The victim’s body was found near Riverview Drive and Spring Garden shortly after midnight.  The victim was in his 30’s. There is no information on a motive or suspects.

  • Man killed in crash near I-70 and Bircher

    ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – One man was killed in an accident early Tuesday morning on I-70 near Bircher Boulevard.  The highway was shut down for four hours. According to police, the driver lost control around 12:30 a.m. while driving eastbound.  The car hit a guard rail before stopping at Bircher near Union.  The passenger died at the scene.  The driver and two others  were taken to the hospital.  There is no word on their conditions. The interstate has re-opened.

  • Monday Mascot: Evie

    ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – This weeks Monday Mascot is Evie.  Evie is a two-month-old Pit Bull, Terrier mix.  She is very active, friendly and energetic! The APA is in need of shredded paper for their puppies. They use it to line their pens.  It leaves fast whenever their puppy room is full, which is now. Last week`s mascot, Tasha, was adopted!   • 16-year-old boy admits to burglarizing cars in Lincoln County; Traded stolen items for marijuana

    LINCOLN COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Lincoln County authorities have confirmed that a 16-year-old boy has admitted to tampering with vehicles and burglary.  There have been a series of break-ins at commuter lots in the area. More than 20 incidents involving stolen items, including five handguns, have been reported by the Sheriff’s Office.  The teenager has also admitted to trading guns for marijuana.   • Overnight shooting near Water Tower sends one man to hospital

    ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – An overnight shooting in North City has sent one man to the hospital.  This happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. Friday morning near the “Old White” Water Tower on 20th and Grand Avenue. According to police, the victim nearly ran a half-block from the scene before he collapsed.  The man was conscious and talking while being transported to the hospital. Authorities do not have a motive or suspects.

  • Tractor trailer overturns I-55/70 in Collinsville

    COLLINSVILLE, IL (KPLR) – A tractor trailer has overturned on I-55/70 in Collinsville Thursday morning.  The driver took the exit headed eastbound toward St. Louis, lost control on the ramp and slid over an embankment.  Crews are on the scene. The ramp will be shut down before removing the semi. We will keep you posted as details become available.

  • SUV strikes power pole in north St.Louis; Driver fled the scene

    ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – An SUV struck a power pole near Spring and St. Louis Avenue Thursday morning causing a power outage in the area.  Police and EMS crews have arrived.  The pole is still hanging but was snapped off at the base. The driver fled the scene.

  • Armed suspect on the loose following police chase in Dogtown

    (KPLR) – A suspect is on the loose following a police chase early Tuesday morning in west St. Louis.  According to police, this chase began when police spotted a stolen vehicle in the Maplewood Richmond Heights area.  They pursued the suspect throughout Dogtown. He side-swiped several vehicles then car crashed through a fence and in a front yard on Dale at Craft Avenue.  At that point, the man jumped out of the stolen car and ran on foot.   He may […]

    (KPLR) – This weeks Monday Mascot is one of the APA’s senior dogs, Tasha.  Tasha is an 11-year-old Collie mix that has plenty of pep.  She is also very sweet.  If you want to adopt Tasha, just go to the APA on South Hanley Road.
