Officer involved shooting in East St. Louis

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. – At approximately midnight on Friday night, a St. Clair County Deputy pulled over a car in East St. Louis at 18th and Ridge Streets.

According to the Sheriff, the deputy shot a 42-year-old man who was transported to a St. Louis Hospital and was in surgery. His condition is not known at this time.

The deputy, a 7-year police officer who has been with the Sheriff’s Department for 2 years, was not injured.

Illinois State Police are now investigating this incident.
