Family of 5 escapes house fire in East St. Louis

EAST ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – In East St. Louis firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed a home Sunday morning.  A family of five living in the house was able to escape.

The fire happened on North 37th Street shortly after 5 am.

The fire damaged the interior and the roof of the house.

No word on the cause of the fire.
