CLAYTON, MO (KPLR) - A man is behind bars after police say he crashed his car then left his injured friend behind. That friend later died from her injuries.

St. Louis County prosecutors recently issued charges in the case that left a family devastated.  On November 28, 2015, investigators say 18 year old Montrell Jeffery of Berkeley was driving with his friend, Torri Ivy, near Courtney and Witt Avenues in Kinloch when the car crashed. Court records say Jeffery ran from the scene, never called 9-1-1, and hid, leaving Ivy behind while she cried for help pinned under the flipped car. Ivy later died from her injuries and now family members say they want justice.

Jeffery is charged with felony leaving the scene of a crash and is in custody at the St. Louis County jail on $5,000 bond. Jeffrey is also facing a first degree murder charge for allegedly killing 17-year-old Trevon Chappele on January 30, 2016.
