GERALD, MO (KPLR) – In the Franklin County town of Gerald Saturday, a gas leak prompted emergency responders to evacuate a small number of residents.

Officials say it was a leak in a fuel-oil pipeline, bubbling up out of the ground that prompted the action.

The leak was on Droste Lane, near the border of Franklin and Gasconade Counties, south of Gerald.

Officials on the scene say thousands of gallons of gas escaped the pipeline.

Highway H was closed at Champion City Road.

The leak was later capped, and residents were allowed to return to the area.
