LANCASTER COUNTY PRISON, PA – A college student in Pennsylvania is facing charges after authorities say he put bleach in his pregnant girlfriend’s water.

According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, Theophilous Washington is facing a felony charge of attempted murder of an unborn child and a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment.

Washington is a junior at Millersville University.

Authorities say he and his girlfriend were together Thursday night into Friday morning.

Authorities allege Washington offered the woman a bottle of water before she left and she accepted.

A short time later, her throat began burning and she was sick to her stomach, according to the DA’s office.

The woman was examined by a doctor and both she and the fetus are believed to be okay.

The woman is estimated to be about two months pregnant.

The DA’s office says Washington admitted to putting bleach in the water bottle.
