Police warn St. Charles County residents after string of frightening crimes over the weekend

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO (KPLR) – A string of frightening crimes over the weekend in St. Charles County.

All of the crimes involved carjacking’s or attempted carjacking’s and one involved a child.

A woman's car was stolen from a QuikTrip Sunday night with her child inside the car.  The driver ran into the store to buy some chips.   She left her child inside the car with the keys in the ignition but it was not running.

The responding officer found the car on the shoulder of Highway 94 with the child inside & unharmed.

In O'Fallon, shortly after 1:30 Sunday morning a man was attacked in a Walmart Parking lot and his car taken.

"He was starting to comply and was struck over the head with a handgun.   At which point the victim got out of the car.  The suspect left in the car   and was followed out of the parking lot by dark colored sedan.  We had a similar incident about 2 1/2 hours earlier involving a black Sedan.    It bumped the rear of a vehicle TR Hughes Boulevard attempting to get the driver to pull over, Said Sergeant Robert Kendall with O'Fallon, MO PD.

The driver did not stop and instead drove to the O'Fallon Police Department.

The vehicle stolen in the attack at the Walmart was later recovered in St. Louis.
