ARNOLD, MO (KPLR) – Arnold police and fire-fighters teamed up to rescue a teenager from a burning home.

That homeowner is Dianna Bartles, a candidate for Jefferson County judge.  Today is her 50th birthday, but she’s celebrating the life of her 18-year-old son.   She says he's home from college for her birthday and was sleeping in his room; while she and her husband went out for a birthday brunch shortly after 11:30 am.

The smoke from the fire filling the house, with the family pets, 2 dogs and 2 cats waking him.  He called 911.  Firefighters say two police officers got here first, climbed onto the air conditioner below her son's window, one officer hoisting the other up to her son.

She says he was treated for minor smoke inhalation at a hospital, but otherwise is physically okay.   Firefighters say flames spread through the attic but at this point, they`re unsure of the cause.
