GRANITE CITY, IL (KPLR) – Cynthia Boland hopes Walmart will stop selling a Halloween decoration she calls, “disturbing”.  The Granite City mother showed us the product on the company’s website.  It’s described as a life-size hanging man Halloween prop.  The ad description calls it, “realistic.”

“This is not something that should be promoted.  This is something that should be taken away,” said Boland.

She is especially disturbed because she says her uncle died from suicide by hanging.  She says years later a friend and co-worker died the same way.  She believes the product trivializes the pain of losing a friend to suicide.

Boland said every time she sees the ad, “I see my late uncle. I see one of my best friends I worked with.”

We invited Walmart to comment on Boland’s concerns, but have not received a response.  The product was available on line as of early Monday evening, however late Monday evening a link to the product was no longer working.  It’s not clear if that’s the result of a technical glitch or if the product is no longer available.
