CREVE COEUR, MO. (KPLR)--The new appliances in Christy Myer’s Creve Coeur kitchen might make you jealous, but you won’t envy the purchase problems she dealt with for nearly a year with retailer HH Gregg.

“I did six months no interest on the original refrigerator that I bought,” said Christy Myer.

Remember the six month no interest part of the story…it comes into play later. You see, the fridge Christy bought didn’t fit, so she returned it for one that did and decided to tack on a matching stove, dishwasher and microwave. After all, she felt she was getting a good deal.

“They had signs up saying three years/36 months no interest. I said does this apply to that? He said yes it does. I said alright fine. So now we’re at $5,600 worth of appliances.” Added Myer.

Everything was fine until Christy’s credit card bill arrived. Rather than having all of the purchases grouped together in one 36 month/no interest transaction, she was billed for two separate charges. Six months/no interest for buying the original refrigerator and 24 months/no interest for the stove, dishwasher and microwave.

“I ended up with almost $300 in interest charges because they couldn’t seem to figure out how to fix it and make the change,” said Myer.

Eight months passed and despite her best efforts, Christy couldn’t get HH Gregg to properly fix the problem. She took a friends advice and called Contact 2. It didn’t take long for us to get action. After we contacted HH Gregg, a representative called Christy to tell her the billing issue would be fixed and the interest charges would be removed. They even threw in a $400 gift card for her troubles.

“I do appreciate the fact that your consumer helpline was able to help solve my problem.” added Myer.
