TROY, MO (KPLR) – A Florissant man is at the Lincoln County Jail awaiting formal charges for allegedly leading police on a wild chase across both Lincoln and St. Charles counties Thursday.

According to Officer Tony Stewart, a spokesman for the Troy Police Department, the incident unfolded around 3:15 p.m. October 13, when a police officer observed a vehicle moving erratically on the roadway. The officer activated his emergency lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver sped away and pulled into oncoming traffic on the other side of the road.

Dispatchers determined vehicle’s owner had several outstanding warrants for drug and traffic crimes, both felonies and misdemeanors.

The suspect led police from Troy to Moscow Mills, and further south into Wentzville, Stewart said. The suspect eventually made his way into O’Fallon before crashing into another car at the intersection of Highway K and Christie Marie.

The driver, identified as JaJuan Shambley, got out of the wrecked vehicle and attempted to flee, but was apprehended a short distance away. Shambley was taken to a local hospital for an examination before being brought to jail.

Officers searched Shambley’s vehicle and found controlled substances and other drug paraphernalia, Stewart said.

The Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case.
