(KPLR) - Officers from as far as Canada are in town to pay their respects to fallen St. Louis County Officer Blake Snyder. The St. Louis City and St. Louis County Police Officers Associations held an open house in south St. Louis for first responders and their families. Out-of-town visitors from Dallas, Baltimore, Boston, Fort Worth, Calgary, and other cities gathered after Snyder’s visitation in Affton.

"Any time an officer dies in the line of duty a lot of cities from all over the United States will send representatives to represent their department at the funeral, and they are all invited here tonight, as well,” Melanie, a member of the St. Louis Police Wives Association said.

The SLPWA helped host the event Thursday evening.

Officer Snyder was shot and killed October 6 while responding to a disturbance call in the Green Park neighborhood in south St. Louis County. His death marks the first line-of-duty death for a County officer since 2000.
