PINE LAWN, MO (KPLR) – One person is in custody after shots were fired at police officers Tuesday night in Pine Lawn.

It happened around 8:00 pm Tuesday in the 4200 block of Oakwood.

North County Police Cooperative Chief, Tim Swope, said officers were finishing a domestic call when shots were fired at them.

"The officers were actually finishing up the call when they started getting shot at- several rounds- they could hear them going overhead and hitting the ground" Chief Swope said.  "So they immediately took cover then right after that they saw a suspect vehicle that fled south to Natural Bridge and they got into a pursuit of the car" said Chief Swope.

With the help of St. Louis Metropolitan Police, officers were able to stop the suspect vehicle near Kingshighway and Page.  One person was taken into custody, but police are looking for at least one more.

"We have one at large" said Chief Swope.  "We’re still trying to identify who that person is, but no one was injured-thankfully-very close call.  Difficult times out here you know so hopefully we can find the persons involved and put an end to it as soon as we can" said Chief Swope.
