ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - The last week of the Major League Baseball regular season starts Monday and the Cardinals are still in the thick of the National League Wild Card Race. There are three teams in the National League competing for two Wild Card spots and as it stands this morning, the Cardinals are just barely on the outside looking in.

But a lot could change in this last week of the regular season.

The Redbirds played their final road game of the regular season last night against the Cubs in Chicago. They fell to the Cubs three to one, the Cards losing two of three against the Cubs in the series.

The teams the Cards are battling against for the two Wild Card spots are the Giants and the Mets. The Mets won yesterday while the Giants lost.

The Mets have the first Wild Card spot with the Giants a game back. The Cards are just a half game behind the Giants for the second Wild Card position.

The Cardinals finish with seven at home they open a four game set tonight against the Reds and then finish regular season with three against the Pirates.
