ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - A major change is one step closer to becoming a reality at Lambert Airport. After lots of debate a decision has been made.

The St. Louis Airport Commission voted and it was unanimous, they want the name of the airport to change. The commission voted on a proposal to change the name from Lambert "St. Louis International Airport" to "St. Louis-Lambert International Airport."

The move comes after a study found that fewer than 20 out of 600 people surveyed knew who founder Albert Bond Lambert was. This making marketing for the airport difficult.

Family members of Lambert say that after lots of discussion they found a compromise. The airport is basically putting geography first and legacy second.
