DE SOTO, MO (KPLR) – Homeowners in De Soto are drying out their homes and belongings Monday night. Residents said it’s the second time since 2013 they’ve had to deal with the same flooding creek.

At Sandy Parmeley’s home it was cleanup time.  She had to pull up her carpet again and throw it away after flood waters rushed inside her residence.  She said, “The first time I did not have flood insurance and it cost me a pretty penny to rebuild. That time I had 18 inches in the house this time it was three to four inches (of water).”

The creek also swamped a nearby park damaging trees, park benches and playground equipment among other items. Parmeley said she made an important change since the last flood.

She now has flood insurance.  She estimates it will take months to bring her home back to normal.
