WILDWOOD, MO (KPLR) – Residents in Wildwood Monday night convinced the city council to vote down a proposed extension of Pond-Grover Loop that would have gone through some residents backyards.

Proponents of the project said the half-mile extension of Pond-Grover would have alleviated traffic congestion in the area and allow for faster response times for emergency services.

Opponents had already turned in more than 400 signatures to kill the road project.  But at tonight's meeting many expressed concern over the loss of the greenway the road would been constructed on.

The new road would connect Highway 109 to Highway 100.

A vote by council members ended in a tie. The mayor broke that tie killing the road project.
