ALTON, IL (KTVI) – There was a major addition to the Alton Riverfront Monday afternoon but by the end of the day, it was headed towards Hannibal.

The American Queen Riverboat has been stopping in the riverbend area and Patrick Clark got a look inside the super steamboat.

You don`t need a time machine to go back to the 1860`s but you do need a ticket, especially if you want to go up river to Red Wing Minnesota.

Because of St. Louis Riverfront construction the American Queen has been boarding next to the Alton marina.

First stop up river will be Mark Twain`s hometown of Hannibal.

Captain Willits tells us they`re sold out for the rest of the year and 70% booked for 2017.
