Special events this weekend to remember Michael Brown

FERGUSON, MO (KTVI)- Special events are planned this weekend to mark the second anniversary of the death of Michael Brown. The 18-year-old was shot and killed by former Ferguson police offer Darren Wilson on August 9, 2014.

The kick off reception gets underway at 4 p.m. Friday, August 5th.

The Michael Brown Foundation, Chosen for Change, is hosting the events which are designed to help educate, inspire and heal the community. The first annual Walk for Justice was held last year from Canfield Drive to Normandy High School, Brown's Alma mater. It included a moment of silence for the late teen.

Saturday morning's Walk for Justice starts a 8 a.m. Participants are asked to meet at the memorial site on Canfield Drive to line up at 7 a.m.  A vigil is also planned at the memorial site on Tuesday, August 9th at 10:30 a.m.
