ST. CHARLES, MO (KPLR) - After recent shootings of police officers across the nation, a local tactical gear company is offering a special deal for police officers.

The tactical gear supplier in St. Charles County put a posting on its Facebook page stating body armor, and carriers will be available to law enforcement at dealer prices.

Vests can be fitted with different plates  as light as 3 pound to  protect against assault rifles or an 11 pound steel plate that stops armor piercing bullets.

Prices range $250 to $1,000.

At dealer prices that is a savings of 15 to 20%.

Twenty-four hours after the Facebook posting went up, the tactical company said it had received 4,000 orders from around the country.

The company has also taken a lot of orders from officers for travel trauma kits.

And in addition to law enforcement, the company is filling orders for St. Louis firefighters and EMS workers in St. Charles County.
