EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KTVI) – A 48-year-old resident of southern Texas was sentenced last week on drug trafficking charges in the bi-state area, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Donald Boyce said.

According to prosecutors, Rey Ramirez admitted to arranging the transportation and delivery of more than 2,000 pounds of marijuana to Ohio and Georgia, and also agreed to distribute 21 kilos of cocaine in Missouri.

Ramirez was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison—the mandatory minimum—followed by five years of supervised release.
