CREVE COEUR, MO (KPLR) - You now have fewer places top light up in Creve Coeur.

Monday night the city council voted to extend the no smoking ban at restaurants to include outdoor dining.

The bill was sponsored by council member Robert Hoffman who is a pediatrician and worried about the impact of second hand smoking.

There was also the concern about smoke near those who suffer with asthma.

The proposed amendment bans smoking within 15 feet of the exterior door of the restaurants and other outdoor dining areas such as city parks.

The ban also includes electronic cigarettes.

The smoking ban takes effect immediately.
