Man presumed drowned in Mississippi River

FOLEY, MO (KPLR)- Police are investigating two separate water rescues overnight. Officials fear both of the victims may have drowned.

The first incident happened around 8:45 p.m. Thursday on the Mississippi River near Foley, Missouri. The Missouri Highway Patrol received a call for two people in distress. One person was able to make it to safety on his own but another man was last seen floating face down in the river, about 300 feet from shore. His friends tried to rescue him.

Several of the victim's friends say he does not know how to swim. Searchers have not been able to find him so far.
