HAZELWOOD, MO (KPLR) – Neighbors in a quiet Hazelwood neighborhood were shocked after a home invasion on their street.

It all started at around 8am Wednesday morning when Hazelwood police got a call from a woman at the 300 block of Elm Grove for a home invasion. Police say the suspect was putting out fliers for a cleaning company. He then gave one to the victim at her door; soon after he allegedly tried to get inside the home. That`s when she tried to force him out and was able to get a butcher knife to defend herself. The man took off on foot and fled in a red car. It took police less than an hour to track him down.  The biggest clue for his capture was his phone number on the flier.

FOX 2 spoke briefly to the victim at the police department and she is really shaken up. At this point the suspect is in custody and he’s facing felony burglary and assault charges.
