ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – Children at the summer school program at Mason Elementary School were relocated Wednesday morning to another school in south St. Louis after a body was found on campus.

Mason Elementary is located in the 6000 block of Southwest Avenue. The kids are being brought to Mallinckrodt Elementary School in the 6000 block of Pernod Avenue.

Homicide detectives were summoned to Mason Elementary, but determined no foul play was involved.

Police and school officials determined the body was that of an overnight custodian, who passed away while at work. The janitor’s body was discovered in the morning. The exact cause of death has not been determined.

Dr. Kelvin Adams, superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools, came to the school to be briefed on the matter.
