Charity repairs used air conditioners to help during heat wave

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Cool Down St. Louis is asking everyone to be good neighbors as temperatures near 100 degrees.

Vaterott College has classes on heating and cooling and keeping your thermostat running. Now they're partnering up with CoolDownStLouis.org. They are asking you to stop by and help drop the temperature.

Wednesday afternoon in Berkely, Cooldown St. Louis organizers got a crash course at Vaterott College. The trade school is taking new and slightly used air conditioners, under two years old, and then cleaning and preparing them. They`ll then be handed out to Missouri and Illinois residents in need.

Cool Down St. Louis has collected more than 1,000 air conditioning units and distributed them to low income families on both sides of the river.
