ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - The regional soap box derby race took place on the Hill in St. Louis Sunday morning.

Winners in each division are then eligible to move on  to the world championship finals in Akron Ohio.

Soap box cars are unpowered so they rely completely on gravity to move and they can get up to 35 miles per hour.

The race is for people ages 7-20.

Everyone builds and decorates their own car.

For some people soap box racing has been in the family for years, but there are plenty of first timers too.
