Police involved in standoff in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – At this hour the St. Louis police department is in the midst of a possible hostage situation in south St. Louis. The incident started late Sunday morning in the area around Minnesota and Potomac.

In response officers and a SWAT team have closed off a 4 block area around an apartment.

Residents in the area say police went to an apartment and arrested one person.  But another man barricaded himself with 2 others in the apartment.  One person has managed to escape.
