ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)- Police are investigating after a store owner was shot in the head at his St. Louis city business. It happened around 8:30 a.m. at Sam’s St. Louis Packing Company located at 4257 Shreve Avenue.

Police say someone walked into the store and shot the owner. The victim was conscious and breathing while being transported to the hospital.

His injuries are potentially life-threatening.

Authorities say the shooting could be related to an ongoing dispute between the owner and the assailant. He and that person have reportedly had problems within the past two weeks, prompting police to escort the owner from his store after hours.

Investigators say a man was seen leaving the store after the shooting, but it was not the person of interest.
