ST. ANN (KPLR) – A violent crime in St. Ann leads investigators to a completely separate crime.
In what began as an investigation into a domestic disturbance call that involved gunfire, turned into a drug bust.
It all began Sunday afternoon with reports of gunfire in a St. Ann neighborhood.
Officers responding found an unoccupied vehicle that had been shot at 7 times. As they began canvassing the neighborhood, knocking on doors, Chief Jimenez says when one door opened; officer’s smelled what they believed was marijuana.
The resident gave permission to entered the home and officers found a huge marijuana production facility.
Police believe they seized a hundred pounds of marijuana.
St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez said he wanted to clear up erroneous social media posts that said police fired shots and there were injuries; stating police only responded to a shooting that turned out to be family dispute over money and that the shooter was taken into custody.
Investigators say the marijuana confiscated is valued at around $40,000.
