5K run helps raise money for people affected by melanoma

ST. PETERS, MO (KPLR) – Saturday was a tough day for FOX2 reporter Shawndrea Thomas. It’s been almost 4 years since the death of her brother from melanoma.

Today she emceed the Miles Against Melanoma 5K Run in St. Peters, where over 1,000 people attended the event.

Melanoma affects 1 in 5 Americans, with a person dying from the disease every 52 minutes.

Today’s event helped raise over $27,000 to help patients with expenses in 2015.
