CASEYVILLE, IL (KPLR) – The owner of the Caseyville Rodeway Inn faces charges related to prostitution.  The Village of Caseyville will now take up the issue of whether it should take action to shut down the hotel.

Caseyville Police Chief Frank Moore said the arrest of Papatlal Patel came after months of undercover work by the Illinois State Police.

“I think they hit a home,” said Moore.  He said his officers are being called to the area of the hotel on a daily basis.

The investigation in this case revealed Patel was willing to rent out rooms for prostitution in return for a piece of the proceeds, according to investigators.  Police say Patel also made arrangements to engage in a sex act with someone he thought was 15-years-old.  He was instead making arrangements with an undercover investigator.

Police say Patel was also willing to arrange for a wedding party to have sex with someone he thought was 15-years-old.  Investigators say Patel was making the arrangement with an undercover investigator.

Patel was released after posting bail, but he was not at his hotel on Monday.  A worker said he had no idea where to find Patel.

Chief Moore said Caseyville trustees will examine the issue of whether the hotel should be shut down during Wednesday’s scheduled board meeting.
