‘Purple Rain’ to be shown at Wildey Theatre

EDWARDSVILLE, IL (KPLR) – A one of a kind artist will be honored in Edwardsville as a local movie theatre promises a one-night only showing of his cult classic film.

The Wildey Theatre will show Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ on Friday night, a day after the musical icon’s unexpected death. The movie will be played at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Tickets ($4) will only be sold at the Wildey Box Office beginning at noon. The tickets are all general admission and can be bought with cash or check only.

Prince won an Oscar for Best Original Score for the movie and the album sold over 15 million copies in the United States.

Prince died Thursday morning at his Paisley Park residence in Minnesota. He was 57.
