BRIDGETON, MO (KPLR) – Schnucks is laying off 190 union workers at its warehouses in Bridgeton.

The grocery chain is opening a new distribution center in Kinloch this July. It will be operated by a logistics company, not by Schnucks.

The teamsters union says the new company employs non-union workers.

Schnucks says transitions like this are difficult, but the layoffs do not affect union drivers and mechanics. The union plans a leafleting campaign at select stores next weekend to pressure Schnucks leaders to change their minds.
