Man found guilty in 2015 murder of St. Louis hotel manager

ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – Joseph Bowens has been found guilty of murder in the fatal shooting of a south St. Louis Drury Inn manager. A jury handed down the verdict Friday afternoon.

In January 2015, hotel manager Scott Knopfel was fatally shot during a robbery at the Drury Inn on Hampton and Wilson.

Bowens,43,  was arrested in Poplar Bluff for an unrelated incident on January 17, 2015, and quickly connected to the murder of 50-year-old Knopfel.

Bowens had been charged with first degree murder, robbery, and armed criminal action.
