Fire heavily damages north city building

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)- An abandoned business caught fire overnight in north St. Louis.

The fire started around 1:15 a.m. at a building on Vandeventer Avenue at St. Ferdinand.  Flames were shooting through the roof and windows of the building when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters had to tear down the boarded up windows and cut the lock to get inside.

No one was hurt and the investigation into what caused the fire is underway.
