ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – Soulard is known for its bars and nightlife, but one corner business has some residents living in fear.

Tropical Liquers (aka, “Trops”) is popular for its frozen cocktails, but residents living near the bar are hoping to get its liquor license revoked.

Neighbors testified before the city’s ‘excise commission’ Friday, saying that since Trops opened in August 2015, its costumers loiter in the streets and drink in their cars. Some complained about drugs and weapons, while others talked about noise at all hours of the night.

The owners of Trops said they’re trying to work with residents to address concerns, going so far as to hold a meeting with them and even hiring security guards for the venue.

The future of Trops’ liquor license will be decided in two weeks.
