DES PERES, MO (KTVI) -There is good news for drivers in west St. Louis County. All of the ramps from Dougherty Ferry onto and off of 270 that closed after power poles snapped during the winter storm reopened overnight just before 2:30am.

Four power poles snapped in that area during Wednesday morning’s snowstorm. For several hours Wednesday, I-270 itself was closed with wires going across the highway from the downed poles. The interstate reopened early Wednesday afternoon but Dougherty Ferry between Ballas and Des Peres Road remained closed as did all of the entrance and exit ramps onto and off of 270. But now, traffic is moving once again.

Ameren officials say the four poles that snapped were all in healthy, solid condition.  In fact, they were just inspected last year. But they say the wet, heavy snow coupled with the high winds on Wednesday caused the poles to break.

Even though the ramps are back open, there is another closure coming. MoDOT says I-270 between Manchester and I-44 will be completely closed early this Sunday,  between 2am and 6am, so that Ameren crews can connect lines over the interstate.
