FESTUS, MO (KPLR) - The Festus Police Department is investigating a report of a home invasion and armed robbery where three children under the age of 10 were present when shots were fired. The family tells Fox 2 News that one of the bullets fired was just inches away from striking a seven-year-old girl.

The family says they do not know who or why the suspects forced their way into their home Wednesday night around 7 p.m. and opened fire. According to the Festus Police Chief, the assailants were masked and armed with handguns as they forced their way through the front door in the 1300 block of Hillsboro Road.

The couple’s children—ages 3, 6, and 7—were in the home at the time of the robbery.

Investigators say the suspects got away with money, a computer, and the victims’ cellphones. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Anyone with information on the home invasion is asked to contact the Festus Police Department.
