ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Valentines Day is this weekend and have we got a love story for you. Imagine you're going in to purchase an engagement ring and you end up starring in a documentary. That's what happened to Kyle Loethen and Madison Burke.
Madison is from St. Louis Missouri and a former FOX 2 intern. The two met while working at a Missouri TV station. When she started to thinking of moving for another job, he knew it was now or never, and asked Madison out. Fast forward a couple years later and their happily ever after is just beginning.
Kyle was ring shopping at Helzbergs Diamond in Kansas City. They told him they had an unusual offer. The store would give him the ring for free, but there was a catch. He has to propose within 48 hours and film the entire process. Kyle responded with, game on!
I can only imagine what was running through his head. We could use that money towards a house! We could use that money towards the wedding!
He agreed, and cameras captured him meeting with a “proposal planner,” getting new suit, picking out a bouquet of flowers to present to me, and even choosing a car to take us away after the event.
Kyle called me and asked if I could make it to Kansas City to be in some sort of fun Kansas City commercial with him. Kyle has done all sorts of acting and modeling in his past, so I figured it was just another one of those jobs. I thought it sounded like fun, so I agreed and took an afternoon off of work.
When I arrived in Kansas City, everyone told me the job was a Kansas City commercial that they wanted real couples for, and it was going to be shot in the Kauffman Center. At the theater, producers separated Kyle from me, and I was taken to my own dressing room to wait. I was starting to get confused about what we were supposed to be doing during the shoot when the producers came back and walked me to a large door.
I told them for probably the tenth time that I hadn’t seen any sort of script and didn’t know what I was supposed to be doing in the commercial. A producer just gave me a funny look and told me to walk to Kyle after he opened the door.
I walked through the door, and suddenly I was on the beautiful Helzberg stage. The stage was covered with candles and a live band was playing in the corner. Kyle was standing in the middle of the stage looking more handsome than ever in a dashing suit.
Confused, I walked towards him and stared at him. He then said the cutest, sweetest, engagement speech and got down on one knee. He pulled out the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen and asked me to marry him.
Of course, I said yes, and the band began playing our favorite song, Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. We danced, and I can’t really explain what was going through my head during the whole thing. I just couldn’t believe it was happening. It was like I was in a dream.
After dancing, we got in a 1954 Bentley that was outside waiting for us, and a driver took us to dinner where we started calling our family and friends with the exciting news.
Thank you, Helzberg, for the beautiful ring and proposal! It was a dream come true for both of us. We can’t wait to see what is next in our life together!
From the moment our eyes first met, my heart felt something for you.
We started off as friends, but as I got to know you, my heart began to melt for you.
On our first official date, as we walked around the governor’s garden, I knew there was something special about this relationship.
You’re everything I was ever looking for and my heart keeps falling more and more in love with you each and every single day.
I want to spend the rest of our lives together, and I don’t want to wait any longer…
Madison, will you marry me?
