EDWARDSVILLE, IL (KPLR) – There have been at least six car break-ins at St. Louis area fitness centers in recent days.

Now, FOX 2 has surveillance pictures of the suspects from the latest crimes.

There had been break-ins at the Planet Fitness locations in Overland and St. Peters.

Monday night there were 4 in Edwardsville within a two-hour span:  2 at the YMCA on Goshen Road, 1 on Esic across town, and 1 at the Planet Fitness on Center Grove.

3 suspects in a late-model silver or gray Dodge Charger combed the parking lots of the Edwardsville fitness centers peeking into car windows, looking for easy pickings, police said.

“In all 4 cases the window was broken in order to gain entry to the vehicle.  In all 4 of those of cases it was items that were right there for them to easily grab,” said Lt. Mike Fillback of the Edwardsville Police Department.  [It was]kind of the rush hour for those establishments, between 6:30-8:30.”

If you recognize the car or suspects, call Edwardsville Police at 618-656-2131.

It’s not known if the same suspects are behind the break-ins in Overland and St. Peters.

Police also remind people to never leave anything of value in their cars, especially in plain view.

“The best option is either take it with you, keep it on your person, or put it where no one can see it,” Lt. Fillback said.

The stolen items include purses and a laptop computer.

Planet Fitness released a statement Monday night saying, “We are aware of the break-ins that took place in the planet fitness club parking lots in St. Peters, Overland, and Edwardsville. We are cooperating with local authorities to assist in this matter and will provide any information they should need.”
