Centene investigating possible data breach
CLAYTON, MO (KPLR) – Centene Corporation is in the midst of searching for some missing computer hard drives.
Those six hard drives contain personal information for nearly one million people who received lab services between 2009 and 2015, including: name, address, date of birth, social security number, member ID number, and health information.
Centene handles healthcare for low-income individuals on Medicaid in several states. The company said none of the hard drives contain financial information about the customers and have not been used fraudulently.
Centene is notifying all affected individuals and offering free credit and healthcare monitoring.
