OKLAHOMA CITY - It's a troubling case of animal abuse that officials in Oklahoma City are hoping to solve.
A dog was found without a nose and missing part of its ear.
We do want to warn you that some of the images in this story... You may find disturbing.
Lorne Fultonberg has more.
They call her Rudi.
(Julie Bank/Oklahoma City Animal Welfare) "She'll definitely be a conversational piece."
Because like the reindeer, she has a very distinctive nose or lack of one.
(Julie Bank/Oklahoma City Animal Welfare) "This girl has had it a little rough, and she's still a baby."
Julie bank and Oklahoma City animal welfare got the call that a dog was running loose on northwest 10th, just west of Rockwell.
(Julie Bank/Oklahoma City Animal Welfare) "When our officer got there he found her with her nose bloody and in the condition she is in now."
Rudi can still smell, but her nose won't grow back. Her ear has been sliced. She's thin. She limps around her new home.
(Julie Bank/Oklahoma City Animal Welfare) "You've got terrible teeth."
And she had a rotten diet.
(Julie Bank/Oklahoma City Animal Welfare) "We don't know whether these injuries were due to an individual or what happened but we're hoping that someone out there can tell us what happened."
(Lorne Fultonberg/Reporting) "To catch the person who may have done this, the animal shelter is trying a new tactic, working with Crimestoppers. It's better known in the community."
The two first joined forces in August, after they found two dogs that had been shot.
Now Julie Bank hopes the same strategy can bring Rudi justice.
(Julie Bank/Oklahoma City Animal Welfare) "If indeed this was a physical act of animal cruelty where somebody did this intentionally, it's somebody that should be caught."
And now that animal welfare has caught up with Rudi. They're promising her a happy life from here on out, nose or not.
