CREVE COEUR, MO (KPLR)- The approaching snow means road crews will be gearing up to battle what could be our first substantial winter storm of the season. FOX 2's Dan Gray has been talking with MoDOT and IDOT this morning. He`s live in Creve Coeur with what we`re learning so far on that part of the story.

All is quiet at MoDOT located near Ballas and I-40 but this is sure to be a very busy place later today into tonight. Workers with their plows are certainly ready to jump into winter weather mode. A spokesperson says they will be fully staffed by mid morning and workers will be on 12 hours shifts until the storm passes.

Full staff means 200 trucks will be out along with a little over 400 workers.

Crews may pre-treat roads later this morning but temperatures could impact that effort with concerns about any liquids put on the roads freezing up. They were not out overnight doing any storm preps.

Similar to MoDOT, IDOT crews have not been out overnight. But that will surely change as the storm approaches.

We will of course bring you more details on road preps as soon as we learn them.
