ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KPLR) – As highway crews keep a close eye on the roads, the Missouri Department of Transportation is working on a long list of detours.

On Monday, MoDOT engineers gave an update on flooded roads throughout the region. Southbound 67 near West Alton was closed; if reopened, it could be reduced to one-way traffic only.

Another major issue is at east and westbound Interstate 44 in the Meramec Valley Park area. It’s expected to go under by Wednesday. Engineers said drivers should to plan ahead for detours that can change by the hour.

MoDOT has either closed or initiated detours for nearly 300 roads. They also have extra crews to help with roadside assistance and watching temperatures. Crews are also planning for repairs once the roads dry.

Drivers are urged to check the MoDOT website for the latest updates on closures and detours.
