ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – A Christmas toy being tested out by its new owner was stolen on Christmas day.

A police source tells KPLR 11 that a nine-year-old was riding his new hoverboard in the 5500 block of Landsdowne when he was approached by two black men in a red car Friday afternoon. The suspects pushed the child off the hoverboard and took it.

According to police, the boy’s father was trying to protect his son and saw that one of the suspects had a gun pointed at him. The father fired a shot at the suspects as they drove away, shattering their rear window.
