ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – The St. Louis Cardinals have traded outfielder Jon Jay to the San Diego Padres in exchange for second baseman Jedd Gyorko and cash considerations.

Jennifer Langosch, the Cardinals beat reporter for, confirmed Jon Morosi’s story Tuesday morning.

Jay, a .287 career hitter, missed more than half of the 2015 season due to wrist injuries. He hit just .210 with 10 RBI during the year.

Gyorko, 27, has a contract taking him through the 2019 season.
