11-year-old girl saves brother from fire

ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – The St. Louis Fire Department is crediting an 11-year-old girl for saving her 8-year-old brother from a house fire.  Captain Garon Mosby says the fire broke out around 1 pm Saturday afternoon at a home in the 4100 block of Tyrolean Avenue near Carondelet Park.

The girl was awakened by a smoke alarm and got her brother out of the home, and called 911.

Responding firefighters rescued a man in his 50’s from the burning home.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.   The children were rushed to the hospital as a precaution.

No word on a cause for the fire.
