ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)- Susan Blandford joined us to discuss Play Your Art Out Studios and the St. Louis Teachers` Recycle Center.

The Executive Director says holidays are hectic times for the young and old. That's why her organization is focusing on giving the gift of play this year. You're invited to share your time and creative side with those you love.

The St. Louis Teachers' Recycle Center, Inc. gathers creative materials from local business and industry that are landfill-bound and makes them available to teachers, parents and youth groups in a store, art studio and fun place.

Here are some calm down  tips +  ideas that might be helpful for young and old during the hectic holiday season:

• Draw a picture
• Write a poem or a story
• Go outside and gather materials to make a centerpiece
• Read a story
• Close your eyes and think of your favorite calm place
